For the fourth consecutive year, the American Film Market (AFM®) and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) will jointly present “Hong Kong Day” at the American Film Market in Los Angeles, California. Hong Kong Day, Thursday, November 7, will feature a day-long series of events spotlighting the benefits of co-producing in Hong Kong. AFM Managing Director Jonathan Wolf and HKTDC Assistant Executive Director Raymond Yip made the announcement today.
Hong Kong Day Activities
“Hong Kong Day” will highlight the city as Asia’s co-production center, focusing on what the international film community can gain by partnering with Hong Kong companies. “Hong Kong Day” activities will kick off with an opening ceremony and ribbon-cutting at the entrance to Loews Santa Monica Beach Hotel. It will also include a seminar on co-producing in Hong Kong and the China market and an evening cocktail reception for invited guests. Premiere film screenings by Hong Kong companies will also be held.
“Hong Kong is Asia’s co-production hub, thanks to itsfree-trade agreement with mainland China – the Closer Economic Partnership Arrangement – its excellent services sector and its renowned film industry,” said Mr. Wolf. “We are thrilled that HKTDC has chosen the AFM to share these benefits with the world’s producers.”
“Given our long-time alliance with AFM, we are very pleased to once again highlight the film industry in Hong Kong,” said Mr Yip. “Through Hong Kong Day, we hope that overseas film professionals at AFM will discover Hong Kong’s advantages for exploring Asian markets, particularly co-production opportunities with the Chinese mainland.”
