Global attendance sees increased presence from the U.K., Italy and China
Los Angeles (November 10, 2016) – The 2016 American Film Market (AFM®) wrapped its 37th edition on Wednesday after 7,023 attendees visited the Loews Hotel in Santa Monica for the eight-day market.
The AFM once again was host to a truly global market, with 1,517 buyers coming from 734 registered companies from over 68 countries. The market saw an increased presence from the U.K., Italy and China this year. Exhibitor attendance included 2,516 executives from 366 exhibiting companies from 32 countries.
Overall industry attendees, non-buyers and sellers including Attorneys, Bankers, Festivals, Film Commissions, Filmmakers, Financiers, Post Production Facilities, Producers, Studio Facilities, Writers, Press and Guests finished at 2,990. The AFM Conferences and Roundtables presented 85 speakers throughout the 21 sessions. The AFM also screened 301 films with 248 Market Premieres, 65 World Premieres and a total of 415 screenings in Santa Monica.
The popular six-day AFM Conference Series showcased sessions on China, Financing, Pitching, Production and Marketing and Distribution. Featured global industry leaders included: Bruno Wu (Sun Seven Stars Media Group Ltd.), Tobin Ambrust (Virgin Produced), David Glasser (The Weinstein Company), Michael Ryan (GFM Films), Shirley Davis (Alcon Entertainment), Tamara Birkemoe (Foresight Unlimited), Mark Ankner (WME), Steve Nickerson (Broad Green Pictures) and many more. The AFM Conference Series, which launched six years ago, hosted international audiences of 600-700 every day.
This year’s Roundtables featured notable industry visionaries including Cassian Elwes (Independent Producer), Joseph Yeung (HLCG Film Guaranters, Ltd.), Rich Peluso (Affirm Films) and many more.
